PPAF, Elementary and Secondary Education Foundation (ESEF) KP and Tele Taleem have signed a tripartite MoU for jointly implementation of an education innovation initiative for bridging the learning gaps of students in the following four community schools. The initiative is being implemented for the period February 2018 to October 2018.

• Community based School Shakahandeh, village Bumburath, Kalash, UC Ayun, Chitral
• Community Based School Grambat Gol, village Birir, UC Ayun, Chitral
• Community Based School, village Kalashgram, Rumbore, UC Ayun, Chitral
• Community Based School Anangor Khwar/Anwar Abad, UC Koto, Lower Dir

This initiative leads students of remote schools improving their knowledge, skills and attitudes through distance learning using technology means. The students in these schools have seen such technologies e.g. computers, satellite dishes, internet and other equipment for the first time and enjoy learning. Over 166 girls and 99 boys are benefitting from this quality education services.

Technology and internet is used to connect primary grade students in the schools with professional teacher trainers, conducting online classes every day. The local school teaching staff observes the sessions in the classrooms and improves teaching capacities. Separate training sessions for teaching staff are conducted twice a month by professional trainers using the online facility. Both the teaching and training sessions are monitored by relevant education staff of the expert firm. In addition, access to open educational content is provided further to reinforce the learning process of the teachers and students, alike.

The technology supporting these services consist of a digital classroom (low cost multi-media equipment and internet) setup in the school, linked via internet to the teacher/trainer using a standard laptop. The local teacher is given a tablet to carry digital training content and formative assessments. Relevant eLearning applications (hosted on the cloud) provide the online classroom facility coupled with digital instructional aids. Sessions and training are based on the national curriculum of Pakistan.

PPAF has login details to see live classroom sessions from its office in Islamabad as well which is helpful in terms of monitoring and support.
