Awareness Session conducted by LSO Ayun Valley Development Programme in District Chitral under PPR


Programme for Poverty Reduction is being implementing in 38 unions councils and 14 districts of Balochistan and Khber Pakthunkhwa. The Aga Khan Rural Support Program (AKRSP) is implementing Programme for Poverty Reduction (PPR) in Union Council Ayun of District Chitral. Ayun and valleys Development Program (AVDP) is a registered LSO/organization under Companies Act 1984 and capitated under social mobilization component of PPR. Local Support Organization (LSO) is Union council (UC) based representative organization of Village based man, women and mixed organization which are primarily driving poverty alleviation agenda by themselves, through proactive linkages, resource mobilization. PPAF-PPR support in an integral part of AVDP work since 2015.
AVDP aims to improve the quality of life of the rural populace of the territorial jurisdiction of UC Ayun and valleys to reduce poverty by targeting poorest of the poor, through integrated interventions i.e. Social Services Sector (SSS) small scale community based infrastructures livelihoods, sustainable use of local and natural resources through participatory development approach. AVDP being an umbrella organization of all village-based institution (VBI’s) and civil society organization (CSO) at the valleys level feels it of significant importance to build the capacities of the people to enable them to realize their aspiration for their own development through self-help basis.
In response to recent COVID-19 disease in Khyber Pakthunkhwa province of Pakistan, AVDP like other community institutions started awareness raising in union council Ayun of District Chitral. AVDP conducted awareness raising sessions in Kalasha (Barrir, Rumbore and Bumboratez) valleys of Ayun. The sessions were conducted in all three Valleys. It was conducted by LSO management. Sessions were conducted in the line of guidelines provided by KP government in detail. Soaps and face masks were distributed by the LSO members to 48 households of Birir valley. During the conduction of session, the SOPs as directed by KP government were strictly followed i.e. social distancing, use of hand sanitizer and face masks. These sessions have a huge impact on the community members. The community members are following the guidelines and instructions as delivered in the awareness sessions. The same sessions were conducted in Rambur and Bomburate valleys of Union Council Ayun.
